AROUND THE VALLEY.SYLMAR Driver pleads guilty to fatal red-light run A Canyon Country woman who ran a red light, killing a 70-year-old pedestrian, pleaded guilty Friday to vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of methamphetamine. Julia Elena O'Connor, 25, is due back in San Fernando Superior Court for sentencing on Feb. 28. O'Connor ran a red light at high speed, hitting Jose E. Ortiz of Sylmar as he tried to cross Glenoaks Boulevard near Polk Street shortly before 11 a.m. on May 24, according to Los Angeles police. Ortiz died at the scene.
