Palmdale ex-convict sentenced in murder

LANCASTER -- A Palmdale ex-convict was sentenced Monday to 52 years to life in prison for murdering his girlfriend's 3-year-old son, who coroner officials said died from blunt-force trauma to his abdomen.

Ladrill Bogan, 34, was convicted in November of murdering Jeremiah McKenney. Jeremiah died in September 2006 in a hospital after he was found not breathing at a Palmdale Boulevard motel where the family had been staying.

Investigators said Bogan told them he was getting ready to drive away from a friend's house when the child fell out of his car seat and hit his chest on the door frame of an SUV.
