EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. Pearblossom Highway lane to be closed for widening

LITTLEROCK -- Caltrans will close one eastbound lane of Pearblossom Highway between 96th and 106th streets east overnight to do road-widening work.

The closures will be from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night beginning today and running through Tuesday morning. Flaggers will assist motorists, and signs will be posted.

Ice cream, movies featured at Hotel Museum tonight

LANCASTER -- The annual Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social and silent movie will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Western Hotel Museum, 557 W. Lancaster Blvd.

The ice cream social will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the museum's back garden. Cost is $3 for adults, $2 for children 11 and younger.

An outdoor screening of the 1924 Russian silent film, "Aelita: Queen of Mars," will start at 9 p.m. in the parking lot. Admission is $3. Children 11 and younger are admitted free.

Combined admission to both events is $5 per person, or $2 for children 11 and under. For more information, call 661-723-6250.

Green Day album concert set at college's theater

LANCASTER -- "American Idiot," Green Day's punk/alternative rock concept album, will be presented in concert by Antelope Valley College's Commercial Music Program and Theatre Arts Department at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the school's Black Box Theatre, 3041 W. Ave. K.

Tickets are $5 for students with identification, and $10 for general admission. Tickets may be placed on will-call by calling the Theatre Arts Department Ticket Hotline at 661-722-6300, Ext. 6728. Tickets may also be purchased at the Black Box beginning at 6:30 p.m. before each show.

The show is recommended for mature audiences due to strong language and subject matter.
