Ravens Nest Fishery 01291 689564 IT has been another week of sensational fishing at the Tintern Lakes. Alan Howe and his son Gareth found themselves playing outsize trout at the same time and Alan's turned out to be a 11.5lb tiger trout while Gareth netted a 14.5lb rainbow.

Kevin Bressington, of Abergavenny, landed rainbows of 14.25lb and 12.25lb and then fished catch and release to hook another eight fish to 5lb.

Jason Phillips, of Pontypridd, bagged rainbows of 14lb and 8.25lb and then hooked and returned 10 more to 4.5lb.

Another Pontypridd angler Ken Davies had rainbows of 12lb and 7lb along with a 5.25lb tiger trout and Larry Pope, from Bridgend, went away with rainbows of 13lb, 8lb and 7lb.

Carl Vrettos, of Newport, landed rainbows of 15.75lb, 8lb, 7lb and 6.5lb and Mike Dommett caught rainbows that weighed 13.25lb, 10.25lb, 8.5lb and 7.25lb.

Usk angler Brian Dallow's mixed bag contained rainbows of 11.25lb and 8.25lb, a 5lb blue trout and tiger trout of 4.75lb and 5.5lb.

Dave Spencer landed a 9lb rainbow, Dave Probert included fish of 9.25lb and 8.25lb in his bag and David Windsor hooked 32 fish to 5.25lb when he fished catch and release.

Shimano Felindre Fishery 01792 796584 VETERAN fly fishermen Alan Bardell and Chris Waters - combined ages 132 - carried off the first prize in the holiday pairs match.

Alan caught four trout weighing 27lb and Chris had four weighing 30lb 8oz.

Phil Waters made second place on his own when he caught four fish totalling 27lb 8oz and his partner failed to catch and Bill Bradley and Jeff Kite each caught three fish for a total of 27lb 5oz and third place.

Cefn Mably Lakes 01633 681101 VINCE Williams, of Newport, had the week's best fish when he cast a black buzzer and hooked a rainbow that weighed 11lb. Craig Williams, of Risca, used a cat's whisker to catch three rainbows weighing 12.5lb and Cardiff angler Wayne Evans took a four-fish 16lb bag on a gold head viva lure.

Dyffryn Springs 029 2059 5929 ICE on the water has limited fishing but when there was clear water some good fish were caught.

John Edwards made good use of a holiday visit from London when he fished Waycock Lake and hooked a 7.5lb rainbow on a gold head hares ear nymph.

N Roberts landed three trout to 3.5lb, M Haynes caught a 3.75lb rainbow, R Meredith caught his first trout of 2.75lb when he fished Goldsland Lake and Tom Peters went away with a 3.6lb fish.

Big W ell Fly Fishery 01600 772904 ALL the lakes are fishing well and ice hasn't been a problem in this spring fed fishery.

Young anglers have been doing well. Luke Rich, a 14year-old, from Undy, caught a rainbow brace that weighed 5.25lb and his 12-year-old brother Lewis caught two weighing 4.5lb.

Johnathon Riddinos, 12, from Tredegar, landed a 3lb rainbow and another youngster from the town, 13-year-old Lee Morgan, caught three trout to 3.5lb.

Seven Oaks Fishery 01446 775474 JOHN James, from Cwmbran, started 2002 in great style when his first trip of the year provides him with an outsize rainbow that turned the scales to 19.75lb.

He caught it on a damsel nymph and with three more trout his bag came to 33.75lb.

Paul Rees of Caerphilly landed a 10.5lb rainbow and added three smaller trout to take home a 20.5lb bag.

Craig Daniels, of Bridgend, also caught a fish weighing 10.5lb and Ron Shuttle, from Cwmbran, included a fish of 8lb in his four-fish 17.25lb haul.

Frank Williams, of Bridgend, landed a 7.5lb rainbow, Bill Williams had fish of 4.5lb and 5lb and Frank Rees, from Caerphilly, made his limit with rainbows of 5lb, 4lb and 3.5lb.

Cound T rout Fishery 01743 761114 THIS former quarry never freezes over, so fishing has been good with numerous limit bags.

Rob Hudson took the best four-fish bag of 9.75lb and he also hooked another seven fish when he fished catch and release.

The best three-fish bag of 9lb was taken by Paul Bentine and included a 4.5lb rainbow.

Bill Bromley hooked a dozen rainbows to 4.75lb when he fished catch and release with a red buzzer and Arthur Tudor retained a 3.75lb fish and returned 12 more.
