Delay in Grand project is sought

In yet another delay in the Grand Avenue project, The Related Cos. on Monday said it will ask the Grand Avenue Authority to let it begin construction on Feb. 15, 2009, instead of this fall.

"There is no change in commitment, only timing," said Bill Witte, president of Related California.

"Related has demonstrated its commitment by investing over $90 million of its own funds to date and continues to invest more each day in advancing construction drawings and moving all aspects of the project forward."

MALIBU -- One lane of Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Coast Highway may refer to:

 in Malibu will be closed in each direction through Friday for several hours daily for a re-paving project, Caltrans reported.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, one northbound lane will be closed, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily one southbound lane will be closed, Gish said.

The closure marks the beginning of a $7 million project to re-pave 11.6 miles of PCH from Malibu Lagoon Bridge to the McClure Tunnel. The project is expected to be completed by fall of next year.
