ARNOLD SIGNS BILL TO AID MISSION COLLEGE GROWTH.

Byline: Daily News

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (German pronunciation (IPA): [ˈaɐ̯nɔlt ˈaloɪ̯s ˈʃvaɐ̯ʦənˌʔɛɡɐ]  signed a bill Tuesday to help Mission College expand as it prepares for an expected influx of nearly 10,000 students over the next decade at the Sylmar community college.

``When students show they are willing to learn, we need to provide them with classrooms,'' Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez, D-Mission Hills, author of Assembly Bill 1222, said in a prepared statement.

``The governor has seen fit to sign my bill, making sure the future students of Mission College will get their classrooms.''

The measure allows the college to swap eight acres of land it owns off-site for eight acres of county parkland adjacent to the campus at El Cariso Regional Park.

As part of the deal, the college will refurbish re·fur·bish

``This is your classic win-win situation,'' Montanez said.
