ECR Retail Systems has the launched the Multi-Site Advanced Retail Management System (ARMS), a scalable EpoS solution that delivers a wide range of business enhancing features for all sizes of organisation.

Client-Server Model 

One of the most prominent features of the new product is its flexibility. It is based on a core software program that provides control over the functionality of the system. A central server works with the customer's local or wide area network in tandem with the client interface at the tills and delivers 'master data' such as stock control functions, product and customer profiles, etc. on demand from the till user. In addition, if the customer has premises in different countries the server can automatically program the tills to operate in the correct language and currency. The tills receive all central information from the server, except for the Sales Business Logic, which is held in a email database on the till and can be programmed to hold details relevant to the customer's own particular area of business.

The benefit of this architecture is that both the client and the server software work in harmony, and the system features advanced SQL and NET features that can be adapted for fast synchronisation of RDBMS and support advanced data mining based events.

Improving Inventory Performance

A key feature of the system is its ability to track and analyses manage and improve inventory performance at every stage of the supply chain. Customers can use it to help them decide what to buy, where to buy it and when and where to stock products. The benefit of this is that it informs the process to such a degree that carrying costs will be reduced, product availability will improve and a greater level of customer satisfaction will be reached.

Managing Continuous Demand

The Continuous Demand Management module is designed to provide a comprehensive closed-loop approach to the development of accurate and profitable demand plans and demand-influencing price and promotional activities. It encompasses demand forecasting and planning, price and promotion optimisation, demand prioritisation and communication and performance management.

Turning the Art of Merchandising into a Science

To meet demands from customers for a high quality analysis tool, ECR have built into ARMS a Merchandising Optimisation System that determines the right quantity, placement and price of items to maximise its customer's returns. By applying sophisticated data-processing techniques to existing inventory and sales data, the system can accurately model future patterns of supply and demand at the item and store level. The Multi-Site software will also evaluate a range of possible actions once the demand forecast has been established, providing the customer with the action that is most likely to produce the best result.
