An armored van containing thousands of dollars worth of coins removed from city parking meters was stolen Wednesday when it was left unattended in downtown Eugene - with the keys inside.

Eugene police are investigating the theft, which also included more than a thousand keys to individual city parking meters, department spokeswoman Kerry Delf said.

"We're obviously talking about a lot of change," Delf said. "It's too bad it happened."
