ARMED COPS SWOOP ON CHAINSAW PARTY-GOER.


ARMED police were called to arrest a masked man wandering in the Midlands with a whirring chainsaw - only to discover he was on his way to a fancy dress party.

An armed response unit and the force helicopter were scrambled to the scene within minutes and the hapless party-goer found himself surrounded by burly cops brandishing guns.

But embarrassed officers sent him on his way after discovering he was off to a fancy dress party - after threatening him with a fixed penalty fine unless he covered up.

"There was no threatening behaviour on his part. Our officers told him to cover up his outfit, or he would be arrested or given a fixed penalty notice Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) were introduced in Great Britain in the 1950s to deal with minor parking offences. Originally used by police and traffic wardens, their use has extended to other public officials and authorities, as has the range of offences for which they can be used. .
