Users of Satellite Direct Plus can place satellite calls directly to any Inmarsat mobile terminal (satellite receiver) anywhere in the world, simply by dialing a pre-assigned terrestrial number. The system automatically locates the destination aircraft and finds the proper satellite to use. The Air Force will launch the initial phase of service on selected transport and tanker aircraft. ARINC will provide the global satellite connectivity and support Air Force users with technical assistance in migrating to the new service from their existing systems.
