ARIAL SOFTWARE TO PUBLISH COMMERCIAL VERSION OF TOP SHAREWARE TITLE: 2DO INTELLIGENT TASK MANAGER SHIPS THIS OCTOBER.

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1996--Arial Software today announced plans to publish "2do Intelligent Task Manager(tm)," an expanded commercial version of one of the all-time best-known shareware Software on the "honor system." The concept is that users try a product, and if they like it, they voluntarily pay a set registration fee or make a donation to the program's creator. There are tens of thousands of shareware programs; some fantastic, some awful.  titles, 2DO.

The commercial version (priced at $39) introduces a variety of new features including task chaining, an improved report editor and a more intuitive user interface. 2do Intelligent Task Manager will be available starting Oct. 14, and will give users a 30-day evaluation period Evaluation period

before requiring a purchase. Users will be able to download 2do from popular shareware sites and from Arial Software's new site at www.arialsoftware.com.

2do Intelligent Task Manager is a unique PIM (1) (Protocol Independent Multicast) A multicast routing protocol endorsed by the IETF. , president of Arial Software, said, "2do works the way your brain does. In a calendar-based program, when the deadline passes for an important task, the task gets lost or must be rescheduled manually. But with 2do Intelligent Task Manager, each task remains visible until completed. This is the way most people actually think about priorities and tasks."

2do Intelligent Task Manager also offers PIM-like functionality with a contact database, task notes, and calendars for linking tasks to specific dates (if desired).  tasks, offering easy-to-read settings like, "First occurrence of a weekday every month, starting tomorrow."

The commercial version of 2do Intelligent Task Manager improves on the award-winning shareware 2DO in many ways:

-- The task-chaining option allows users to define a sequence of linked tasks. When the top-most task is completed, the next one is scheduled automatically, allowing the user to concentrate more on their work and less on scheduling functions.

-- Improved reporting allows users to define reports that include information such as the age of tasks and the folder In a graphical user interface (GUI), a simulated file folder that holds data, applications and other folders. Folders were introduced on the Xerox Star, then popularized on the Macintosh and later adapted to Windows and Unix. In Unix and Linux, as well as DOS and Windows 3.  containing the tasks.

-- The contact manager now contains an auto-dial feature.

-- A new "look and feel" improves the user interface and makes commands more intuitive.

-- When users are ready to purchase 2do, a new instant order line gets users a serial number immediately-so they can enable the licensed version of the program with no waiting.

The commercial version is being offered at a special introductory price of $39, and current shareware users can upgrade for only $9.
