ARIAD Appoints Noted Cancer Specialist as Chief Medical Officer.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2002

ARIAD ARIAD Allison Research Index of Art and Design  Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARIA) today announced the appointment of Camille L. Bedrosian, M.D. as vice president and chief medical officer. Dr. Bedrosian joins the Company after over five years at Genetics Institute, Inc. and Wyeth, most recently as senior director, oncology/hematology in the clinical research and development department.

"Camille Bedrosian is a seasoned oncologist who brings directly relevant expertise in clinical trials, the development of breakthrough therapies for patients with cancer and blood diseases, and the interface between drug discovery and development to our senior management team," said Harvey J. Berger, M.D., chairman and chief executive officer of ARIAD. "Her appointment further reinforces our commitment to building a product-driven cancer business."

Dr. Bedrosian previously was assistant professor of medicine in the division of hematology and oncology at Duke University Medical Center and a member of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also was an associate in medicine, fellow in hematology and oncology, and resident in medicine at Duke. Dr. Bedrosian received her M.D. from Harvard Medical School Harvard Medical School (HMS) is one of the graduate schools of Harvard University. It is a prestigious American medical school located in the Longwood Medical Area of the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. , M.S. in biophysical chemistry from M.I.T., and B.A. from Harvard University/Radcliffe College in chemistry with honors and Magna Cum Laude cum lau·de
