ARI to Provide $1 Million in Electronic Commerce Services to the Specialty Chemical Industry; Pact with Bayer Corporation Expands Specialty Chemicals Business Network.

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1995--ARI Network Services, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ARIS) today announced it was awarded a contract to provide business-to-business electronic commerce services to the Agriculture Division of Bayer Corporation, a leading producer of products for the specialty chemical industry. Under terms of the agreement, ARI will provide consulting, computer network, database and support services to streamline Bayer's commercial relationships with some 60 distributors of turf, ornamental, and pest control products in the U.S. The initial ARI services will enable Bayer to track sales, product movements and product receipts throughout the channel of distribution on a daily basis. The Bayer contract is structured in 2-year, automatically renewable segments. ARI estimates the full package of services could generate approximately $1.0 million in the first contract period.

Bayer Corporation and Rhone-Poulenc had previously contracted with ARI to develop the software and database services to support this electronic commerce initiative in the specialty chemicals industry. ARI operates a data base with unique identifiers for all products, trading partners and physical distribution points. All participants will add their trading partners and products to this industry database which provides the common symbology for all constituents to do business with one another.
