ARI Announces Release of PartSmart(R) 8.3.

Improved Features and Speed Respond to Dealer Feedback

PartSmart 8.3, ARI's state-of-the-art CD-based electronic parts catalog software, includes upgraded features, scheduled Internet application updating, speed improvements and additional capabilities that respond directly to dealer feedback on previous versions of PartSmart.

"Version 8.3 is faster and easier to use and includes significant performance improvements in three major areas -- parts search, Illustrated Parts List (IPL) load and IPL paging. In addition, users will have the ability to schedule application updates for downloading and installation during off hours. In the future, subscribers will also be able to easily download manufacturers' data from the Internet to ensure that they have access to manufacturer updates as they become available," said Brian E. Dearing, chairman and chief executive officer of ARI.

"After hearing from many of our customers, we recognized that PartSmart 8.0 was not meeting the needs of our customers as well as we had intended. We surveyed our customers, took their feedback very seriously and committed ourselves to addressing the issues," added Dearing.

"We then focused our development team on improving the speed and ease of installation and use, correcting the problems and enhancing the software. We also decided to continue to support PartSmart Classic, giving dealers more control over the timing of their upgrade. Finally, we introduced www.lookupparts.com to provide our subscribers an additional way for them to look up parts on the Web," said Dearing.

Available immediately, PartSmart 8.3 includes:

* Significant performance improvement. Significant speed improvements have been made in the launch and display of diagrams, the most-used feature in PartSmart.

* Standardized keyboard commands. In addition to mouse/keypad navigation, PartSmart 8.3 now supports standard keyboard navigation.

* Internet PartSmart application updating and installation provide customers with immediate access to the latest enhancements to the PartSmart application.

* New scheduler addition to the PartSmartUpdate program enables users to schedule application updates daily, weekly or monthly and each can be assigned a time of day.

* Easier interface to business systems. The ability to right click on IPL hotspots has been added, making it even easier to add parts to a pick list and create an order for sending to a dealer's business management system for processing.

* Improved Hotspot colorization. Viewing inventory levels has been improved on IPL screens, making it easier for the user to determine if parts are in stock.
