Hundreds of local students have earned awards from the College Board for their consistently high scores on Advanced Placement tests in the spring.

Six area students received the board's top honor As a verb, to accept a bill of exchange, or to pay a note, check, or accepted bill, at maturity. To pay or to accept and pay, or, where a credit so engages, to purchase or discount a draft complying with the terms of the draft.  - the National AP Scholar Award, given to those who score an average grade of 4 or higher on eight or more AP exams. And the others scored well enough on the exams they took in May to qualify for other board honors.

Local educators said that while the tests are important to some students, schools do not pressure students into taking them because they are challenging.

``If they're willing to study hard, prepare themselves for an exam that can potentially earn them college credits, then fine. But not everything is riding on one test,'' said Andi Mallen, senior counselor at Moorpark High School Moorpark High School, located in Moorpark, California, is a public high school in the Moorpark Unified School District and currently has an enrollment of 2,478 students.[1] .

Those students taking National AP Scholar honors were Patrick Fisher, Randall Miller and Ashwin Ramakrishnan from Thousand Oaks High School Thousand Oaks High School is a high school established in 1962 and located in Thousand Oaks, California. It is a California Distinguished School, and offers curriculum at all levels for Thousand Oaks students. The College Board also gives awards in three other categories, all based on high scores on a number of tests. Grades on the tests are reported between 1 and 5, with 3 and above accepted as passing for most colleges and universities.

About 13 percent of the more than 635,000 students who took the tests across the country scored high enough for one of the board's awards.

The AP Scholar Award is given to those completing three or more exams with grades of 3 or more. The AP Scholar With Honor Award goes to those with an average grade of 3 or higher on four or more exams, with an average of 3.5 on all exams taken. And the AP Scholar With Distinction Award goes to those with an average grade of 3 or higher on five or more exams, with an average of 3.5 on all exams taken.

At Westlake High, 31 earned AP Scholar Awards, 16 received Scholar With Honor Awards and 16 won Scholar With Distinction Awards.

At Newbury Park High School, seven students earned AP Scholar Awards, six won AP Scholar With Honor Awards and two were named AP Scholars With Distinction.

At Oak Park High School, 15 were AP Scholars, seven were AP Scholars With Honor and five were AP Scholars With Distinction.

At Agoura High School Agoura High School is a four-year high school, freshman-senior, in Agoura Hills, California, United States. It is the largest high school in the Las Virgenes Unified School District, with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. , 16 students received AP Scholar Awards, 11 won AP Scholar With Honor Awards and four earned AP Scholar With Distinction Awards.

It nestles in the Santa Susana Mountains and is adjacent to the San Fernando Valley, part of the city and county of Ventura. , 16 students earned AP Scholar Awards, six won AP Scholar With Honor Awards and 10 received AP Scholar With Distinction Awards.

At Moorpark High School, eight students won the AP Scholar Award, two earned AP Scholar With Honor Awards and four received AP Scholar With Distinction Awards.
