AREA MOM COLLECTS $54,299.64 CHECK FOR OVERDUE CHILD SUPPORT.

The check left the mother, Clara Wells, ``literally gasping for breath,'' said Kaye McKay, head of the prosecutors' Bureau of Family Support Operations.

The regional office in Palmdale obtained the money as the result of a lien demand.
