AREA MAN OPENS HOME TO HALLOWEEN.

Byline: John Huddy Daily News Staff Writer

Ever since he was a kid, Bruce Hallebrand always has enjoyed the hair-raising entertainment of Halloween.

This Saturday, after six weeks of work and play, the Newbury Park resident will give trick-or-treaters some extra fun at Hallebrand's Hell House, his version of the Grim Reaper's paradise.

``I've always wanted to do this,'' said Hallebrand. ``Ever since I was a kid I've enjoyed Halloween immensely and this year I decided, Heck, I'm going to do it - go full guns.''

First, children and adults will be led into the house of horror, greeted by ghoulish ghoul

Visitors then will be taken into Hallebrand's Night of the Living Dead living room. There's no television or couch in here. Just a graveyard of tombstones tombstones

Then, for those still game to go on, a special seance will be held in the dining room, which leads into the final culmination of Hallebrand's Hell House - a kitchen that makes even Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment look like Santa Clause lane.

``This is Bruce's dream child,'' said Hell House helper and friend Tom Lambeth. ``He's really gone above and beyond getting this whole thing together.''

Hallebrand said Tom, along with Hallebrand's 15-year-old son, Jason, and his daughter, Alex, 12, have been working on the haunted house A haunted house is defined as building that is believed to be a center for supernatural occurrences or paranormal phenomena.[1] A haunted house may contain ghosts, poltergeists, or even malevolent entities.  creation for about six weeks, shopping for all the gory go·ry

It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  Halloween stores.

``It's evolved as we've gone along,'' said Hallebrand, who has included fog-making machines and blood-curdling special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques. .

Hallebrand already has had some test runs of his horrific home for neighbors and friends.

``Three people actually physically ran out of the house,'' said a smiling Hallebrand, proud of his creation's shock value.

This is the first year that Hallebrand will host his haunted house for the local community, and he plans to continue it in the future.

``It's been a lot of fun putting it together,'' said Hallebrand, who works as a sales representative. ``People get to know my dark side a little bit.''

Hallebrand's Hell House will run from 5 to 10 Halloween night at 239 Ensenada Drive, Newbury Park. There is no cost, although donations are appreciated, he said.
