AREA LIBRARIES RENOVATED WITH EXPANSION, FACILITIES GIVE ACCESS TO MANY BOOKS.

Thanks to a $208 million bond approved by voters, the city has rebuilt or renovated 33 libraries citywide, including a dozen branches in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Funded by Proposition DD, the projects came in under budget, allowing the construction of a new library in Silver Lake and the renovation of others in Exposition Park Exposition Park is the name of more than one place:
  • Exposition Park (Dallas) - a neighborhood in south Dallas, Texas
  • Exposition Park (Kansas City) - A former baseball park in Kansas City
 and the Harbor area The Harbor Area is the area along the Port of Los Angeles. It contains neighborhoods of Los Angeles (including Wilmington & San Pedro). Los Angeles City neighborhoods in the Harbor Area

The Chatsworth Library, 21052 Devonshire St., marks the last of the dozen Valley renovations. The branch opened last November with 13,000 square feet - more than double its original 5,400 square feet when built in 1963.

``Now, a person has access to millions of books,'' said Chatsworth librarian Bruce Bruce, Scottish royal family descended from an 11th-century Norman duke, Robert de Brus. He aided William I in his conquest of England (1066) and was given lands in England.  Seidman, noting that the city moves 40,000 books daily from branch to branch, which equates to the same number of books housed at one average branch.
