Wholesale Marine Inc. got a big boost in business recently when it was awarded the contract to provide boats, motors and service to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving 3.9 million residents in 2006. It was founded in 1902 to deliver water and electricity supplies to residents and businesses in Los Angeles. .

``It's a big contract for us,'' said owner J. R. Goodman Goodman was a polite term of address, used where Mister (Mr.) would be used today. Compare Goodwife.

Goodman refers to:

. ``I sold a boat to someone who works at Water and Power, and he was really happy with it, so he told the department about our company. We were invited to join the bidding process, and we were awarded the contract.''

Not bad for a company that just celebrated its one-year anniversary in October. Goodman has been in the marine industry for 20 years, but this is his first venture into ownership.

``We're a young company, but this contract will put us at the top of the boating industry in this area,'' Goodman said.

at a cost of $22,750 each.

``They looked at a lot of boats, and they felt the V.I.P. was the best one we had price-wise, compared to what they were already using,'' Goodman said.
