Criste - the reigning Southern Section Div. I champion in the 100-yard breaststroke - placed fourth in the 200-meter breaststroke and fifth in the 100 breaststroke last week, but he is not scheduled to compete in either event this week. Instead, he will focus on the 100 and 200 freestyles and the 200 individual medley in an attempt to better his entry times in those events.

Criste's decision to not swim in either breaststroke event gives Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  of La Crescenta's James Martin James Martin or Jim Martin may refer to:

Canyons Aquatics also will be well represented in the girls' meet, with recent Saugus graduate and San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  State-bound Lizette Patterson, her former Centurions' teammate Melissa Bowers, Canyon's Roxy Camuso, Hart's Rachael Krager and Molly Rogers, Valencia's Michelle Kroll, Jasmine Henderson and Stephanie Henderson, and Quartz Hill's Sarah Colvin scheduled to compete.

Camuso, who finished seventh in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles at the Southern Section Div. I final, is expected to contend for the titles in the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyles, and the 100 and 200 backstrokes.

Patterson qualified for the Div. I finals in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 individual medley for the third consecutive year. She has a shot at winning the 200-meter breaststroke and the 200 and 400 individual medleys. Patterson's primary competition in the 100 breaststroke figures to be 25-year-old Canyons Aquatics teammate Lisa Andrade.
