This competition is accepting applications in piano, oboe oboe (ō`bō, ō`boi) [Ital., from Fr. hautbois] or hautboy (ō`boi, hō`–), woodwind instrument of conical bore, its mouthpiece having a double reed. , bassoon bassoon (băs n`), double-reed woodwind instrument that plays in the bass and tenor registers. Its 8-ft (2.4-m) conical tube is bent double, the instrument thus being about 4 ft (1. and piano trio. The competition is open to musicians of all nations whose date of birth falls between 1972 and 1985 (for the category piano trio, between 1970 and 1985). The first, second and third prizes for the categories of piano, oboe and bassoon are 10,000 [euro]; 7,500 [euro] and 5,000 [euro]; respectively. For the piano trio category, first prize is 20,000 [euro], and second and third prizes are 15,000 [euro] and 10,000 [euro]. The jury decides which prizes shall be awarded. There also will be special prizes given, including an Audience Prize, the Barenreiter Urtext ur·text n. The original text, as of a musical score or a literary work.
