ARCO OFFERS $25,000 REWARD IN SANTA MONICA MURDER AT WORLD OIL

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCO is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men responsible for the fatal shooting of a customer at a World Oil station in Santa Monica on July 4. World Oil is a contract ARCO gasoline dealer.
The 28-year-old victim, Adrian Martinez, was a passenger in a car that stopped for gasoline at the World Oil station at 1801 Lincoln Blvd. shortly after midnight. Martinez went up to the cashier's window to pay for his purchase while the driver continued pumping at the island.
According to witnesses, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a man approached Martinez at the window and asked for his wallet. Martinez turned slightly and was shot in the back. After Martinez fell to the ground, the gunman shot him several more times before fleeing in a car with a second man.
The first suspect is described as an African-American in his twenties, between six feet and six feet, three inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing baggy denim trousers and a thigh- length stadium coat with the hood pulled over his head. The second suspect was thin and about six feet tall. They drove off in a two-door, dark blue GM-model car, possibly a 1980-1985 Buick Regal or Skylark, with horizontal tail lights.
Anyone with information about the crime should contact Sgt. Cooper of the Santa Monica Police Department regarding Case No. DR93-54997. Sgt. Cooper's daytime phone is 310-458-2273. Nighttime calls should be directed to the Santa Monica Police's 24-hour phone line: 310-458-8427.
The reward is being offered through ARCO's Crime Deterrent Program which, since its inception in 1978, has awarded more than $2 million to individuals assisting in solving crimes committed at ARCO facilities.
