ARCO ANNOUNCES WILD WEASEL TEST WELL RESULTS

 ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- A test well drilled this fall on the Wild Weasel prospect in the Eastern Beaufort Sea did not encounter commercial hydrocarbons, ARCO Alaska Inc. announced today.
 The well, the OCS-Y-1597 No. 1, was drilled to a total depth of 9,314 feet. Based on wireline log analysis, the well was plugged and abandoned. The well took 35 days to complete and was finished on Nov. 10, 1993, at a cost of $22 million. There are no immediate plans for further drilling in the area.
 The well was located approximately 60 miles east of Prudhoe Bay and 9 miles offshore. ARCO, the operator, has a 46 percent working interest in the well with Phillips Petroleum Co. carrying the remainder.
