ARCADIS Scientists Co-Author Third Edition of Groundwater Treatment Technology.

DENVER -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced that Evan K. Nyer, along with a team of other ARCADIS engineers and scientists, have co-authored the third edition of Groundwater Treatment Technology, which was published in January 2009 by Wiley. The first edition, by Mr. Nyer, originally came out in 1986.

Groundwater Treatment Technology has been the leading text on above ground groundwater remediation technologies for the past 25 years. With a unique focus on above-ground treatment technologies, this Third Edition discusses new chemical analysis methods and regulations covering arsenic, radon, 1,4 dioxane, MTBE, Pechlorate, and NDMA amongst other emerging contaminants. Other new material includes information on the regulation and design of drinking water systems; specific data on treatment methods as applied in the field; detailed strategies for remediation; and an explanation of design philosophy that gives the reader a clear understanding of the design process and the goals to be met.

Evan Nyer has been active in the development of new treatment technologies for more than 30 years. He has been responsible for the strategies, technical design and installation of more than 500 groundwater and soil remediation systems at contaminated sites throughout the United States. Mr. Nyer also lectures, provides expert testimony and serves as the public spokesperson for technically complicated sites.

Nyer received his graduate degree in environmental engineering from Purdue University and has authored five other books: Practical Techniques for Groundwater and Soil Remediation, published by Lewis Publishers, Inc., Groundwater and Soil Remediation, In Situ Treatment Technology (now in its second edition), and The Water Encyclopedia published by CRC Press. Evan is also the co-author of Bioremediation, published by American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Nyer was a regular contributor to Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation, having had his own column "Treatment Technology" in the journal for 20 years.
