This new work is in two contracts: one for Hyundai Motor Company The Hyundai Motor Company, a division of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, is South Korea's largest and the world's sixth largest Automaker.[1] Its headquarters are in Seoul, South Korea. ; and one for DENSO International America, Inc. Work on both contracts is expected to start this summer.

The Hyundai contract is for the design of the company's new automotive production plant in Montgomery, Alabama Montgomery is the capital and second most populous city of the U.S. state of Alabama and the county seat of Montgomery County. Montgomery is notable for its historic involvement during the Civil War, for being the first capital of the Confederacy, and for being a primary site in . The $1 billion U.S. facility includes approximately two million square feet of assembly plant, body shop, engine plant, stamping plant, paint shop and office facilities. This will be the first Hyundai plant built in the U.S.

The work is to be done at the DENSO facilities located in Southfield, Michigan Southfield is a city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a suburb of Detroit and is part of the metro Detroit area. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 78,296. Southfield Township is adjacent to the city on the north side. . The sales, marketing and demonstration facilities at this complex were originally designed by ARCADIS in the late 1980s.

The manufacturing buildings market has experienced a significant slow down in the past year. After a flat first quarter 2002, ARCADIS saw both the number and volume of requests for proposals increase during the second quarter, culminating in these $8 million in contract awards during June 2002. Asked to comment on the recent wins, Steve Blake, member of the Executive Board for ARCADIS and overseeing the North and South American activities of the firm stated: "We are very pleased with our Buildings Division's success in winning these very important contracts and these orders should form a good basis for improved utilization of our U.S.-based buildings sector for the second half of 2002."
