The firm received three awards, including the Grand Award for surveying and mapping technology, an Honors Award for water and wastewater, and an Honorable Mention in the environmental category. These honors recognize ARCADIS Geraghty &Miller's efforts on three separate projects.

The awards will be presented on March 8, 2000.

The Grand Award for engineering excellence recognizes the firm's design of a mapping system to support the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources' aggressive program to locate, protect, mitigate, and restore wetlands. The system incorporates existing state geographic information system geographic information system (GIS)

An Honors Award acknowledges ARCADIS Geraghty &Miller's design to modify the South Cary Water Reclamation Facility to accommodate biological removal of nutrients. An innovative design concept was used to re-configure existing treatment tanks to comply with North Carolina's Neuse River The Neuse River is a major permanent stream rising in the piedmont of North Carolina, emptying into the Pamlico Sound below New Bern. Its total length is approx. 325 km (195 mi), and its drainage basin, measuring 14,582 km² in area, lies entirely inside the state of  nutrient reduction strategy. An Honorable Mention was awarded for the firm's project to assist the North Carolina Department of Transportation The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is responsible for building, repairing, and operating highways, bridges, and other modes of transportation, including ferries.  with the identification and investigation of potential wetland mitigation sites within the Tar-Pamlico River Basin. ARCADIS Geraghty &Miller developed an innovative strategy that significantly reduced costs and increased efficiency in identifying sites for wetlands preservation, enhancement, and/or creation within the 5,440-acre river basin.
