ARCADIS Awarded Contract to Provide Mitigation for 70-acre Wetland.

DENVER -- ARCADIS (NASDAQ:ARCAF)(EURONEXT: ARCAD) announced today that it was selected as the prime contractor by the Port of Houston Authority (PHA) to provide professional engineering and construction services to complete the $1.8 million Bayport wetland mitigation project. The Bayport mitigation project will mitigate nearly 70 acres for wetlands and coastal prairie impacted during the construction of the Bayport Terminal Complex located in Houston, Texas.

Following a competitive request for qualifications for design/build services, ARCADIS was selected to manage the project along with service partner, Remedial Construction, and small business team members Berg Miller and TSC Engineering. The mitigation project is designed to offset the loss of approximately 20 acres of wetlands within the Bayport project footprint. Mitigation design, construction and monitoring efforts will take place in a memorial tract of land adjacent to the Armand Bayou Nature Center in Pasadena, Texas. With a mitigation ratio of 3.4-to-1, the newly constructed wetland area will result in wetland and coastal prairie creation and enhancement programs, and wetland and upland habitat protection under a permanent conservation easement.

To serve the needs outlined by PHA, which is operating under a construction permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, ARCADIS must successfully design, implement and monitor, for a term of no less than six years, the ecological characteristics vital to the projects success. This includes wetland enhancement, coastal prairie enhancement and habitat protection. The project will be considered both a success and complete when wetland hydrology criteria and percent cover of desirable vegetation and control of undesirable vegetation reach acceptable quantifiable targets.
