ARCADIS' GRiP Achieves Regulatory Closure for Stanley Works Site.

ARCADIS (Nasdaq:ARCAF)(EURONEXT:ARCAD) announced today that it has achieved regulatory closure through its Guaranteed Remediation Program (GRiP(R)) for the Stanley Works at a former steel strapping manufacturing site located in Pittsburg, California.

A leaking underground storage tank resulted in the release of xylenes to surrounding soils as well as floating xylene solvent on the groundwater. Stanley assumed responsibility for remediating the release following the transfer of the business to a new owner.

After experiencing frustration in the length of time and the amount of money that it was taking to address the issue, Stanley contacted ARCADIS. ARCADIS responded to Stanley's need for clean-up and determined that the remediation approach could be improved at a substantially lower cost than other consultants. ARCADIS presented a fixed-fee plan which guaranteed the clean-up and presented a $500,000 savings by using an innovative remediation technology. ARCADIS achieved a No Further Action (NFA) from the regulatory agency on October 30, 2002, thus effectively bringing closure of the remediation for Stanley. Once the NFA was received, ARCADIS began dismantling the remediation system which was completed in February 2003.
