, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 1995--Three of the major providers of the new QIC-3010 and QIC-3020 floppy interface drives will ship with Arcada Backup.

Drives supplied by Conner, Iomega, and Micro Solutions all will incorporate the utility.

Arcada Backup will enable QIC-3010 users to back up 345 MB of uncompressed data and 680 MB of compressed data on a single tape. QIC-3020 users can back up 700 MB uncompressed and 1.36 GB of compressed data per tape. In addition, data transfer rates for QIC-3020 users will double typical QIC-80 drive rates, with a transfer rate of 2 Mbps. The time it takes to run backup operations are cut in half.

QIC-3010 drives from Conner, Micro Solutions, and Iomega are shipping now. Iomega will begin shipping its QIC-3020 drives in the first quarter of 1995. Ship dates for QIC-3020 drives from Conner and Micro Solutions have not been announced.

"Users of QIC-80 tapes are now limited to storing only 340 MB of compressed data per tape, which is not in line with the tremendous growth we've seen in the storage capacity of hard disks, most of which can store 500 to 600 megabytes of data," said Joe Kovacs Joe Kovacs (Born Joseph Stephen Kovacs on December 15, 1967 in Independence, Ohio), is an American puppeteer and actor.
