ARC International and Green Hills Software Announce Enhanced MULTI Development Environment for Configurable ARC Processors.


TOKYO -- Optimized Compiler and Debug Software for ARC Processor Core Families Lower Development Times and Speed Time-to-Market

ARC International (LSE LSE - Language Sensitive Editor :ARK) the leader in configurable processor technology, and Green Hills Software, Inc., the technology leader in embedded software development tools and real-time operating systems, today announced the availability of enhanced versions of Green Hills Software's MULTI MULTI Multiple (R) Integrated Development Environment See IDE.

Green Hills Software's enhanced MULTI IDE provides improved hardware breakpoint The location in a program used to temporarily halt the program for testing and debugging. Lines of code in a source program are marked for breakpoints. When those instructions are about to be executed, the program stops, allowing the programmer to examine the status of the program  support for more efficient debug on ARC's cores, a new X/Y memory viewer that provides access to all the ARC architecture's X/Y memory banks through MULTI's memview, and an updated connection editor for the Green Hills ARCserv software simulator. ARC's recently released MetaWare(R) Toolkit 7.1 is fully supported, as is support for ARC's Cycle Accurate Simulator A Cycle Accurate Simulator (CAS) is a computer program that simulates a microarchitecture cycle-accurate. In contrast a Instruction Set Simulator simulates an Instruction Set Architecture usually faster but not cycle-accurate to a specific implementation of this architecture.  (CAS), which enables software engineers to easily debug and profile their code without having to connect to target hardware.

ARC 600 and ARC 700 Core Families

Both the ARC 600 and ARC 700 core families are DSP-enhanced and eliminate the need for additional signal processing engines.

MULTI Integrated Development Environment

The MULTI IDE provides a complete, tightly integrated set of tools for the rapid development, debugging and optimization of embedded software. The MULTI IDE is tightly integrated with ARC's MetaWare C/C++ compiler and instruction set simulators, and supports target connections using Green Hills Software's Green Hills or Slingshot (networking, business, tool, product, protocol) Slingshot - CSK Software's real time financial server for the Internet.

Slingshot allows the delivery of real time market data across the Internet and private intranets quickly, cheaply and securely.
