ARAMARK and Greater Philadelphia Federation of Settlements Announce Three-Year Partnership to Enrich Philadelphia Community Centers.


Employee volunteers revitalize two centers in Philadelphia as part of nationwide "ARAMARK Building Community" program

To launch the partnership, hundreds of ARAMARK employee volunteers participated in a day of service April 30, 2008 to revitalize two Philadelphia community centers.

The volunteers started an urban farm, transformed a gymnasium and park, landscaped grounds, reorganized a youth career center and painted an inspirational mural with the Philadelphia Mural Arts program at the Caring People Alliance @ R.W. Brown Community Center and Friends Neighborhood Guild, both serving the North Philadelphia community.

"More than 100,000 Philadelphia individuals and families rely on our community centers for basic support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  and educational experiences," said Diane Cornman-Levy, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Federation of Settlements. The list is organized by broad geographical section within the city. .

ARAMARK plans to support the Federation's "Teens for Good" program, host a career fair in June at the Caring People Alliance @ R.W. Brown Community Center, create ARAMARK summer internships, host health fairs, teach cooking classes, and improve the physical facilities of community centers.

The partnership with the Federation and day of service are part of a larger philanthropy and volunteer effort called "ARAMARK Building Community," designed to help community centers around the country meet critical facility and social service needs.

Every month for the next two years, ARAMARK employees plan to forge new relationships with neighborhood centers in nearly 30 U.S. cities as a first step to future development.
