ARABS-ISRAEL - Oct. 31 - Sharon Rejects To Withdraw; 4 Militants Killed.

In a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Powell, PM Sharon says he will not order his army to withdraw from the PA-ruled West Bank territories captured after the Oct. 17 killing of Israeli Tourism Minister Zeevi until the PA cracks down on militant groups. Sharon spokesman Raanan Gissin says: "We have no intention of staying and we'd like to leave as soon as possible". But the Palestinians were "not complying". Israeli officials say the army's raids and "targeted killings" are in response to intelligence warnings of a wave of planned terrorist attacks. Meanwhile, Israeli forces, using helicopter gunships and anti-tank missiles, kill four Palestinian militants. One of those killed was Jamil Jadallah, a 25-year-old Hamas member and a suspect in a number of terrorist attacks against Israelis. He was assassinated in Hebron while preparing another attack inside the Jewish state. Another two militants killed by the Army are members of PA security forces. A fourth Palestinian - also a Hamas member - was killed by an Israeli tank firing at his car in Tulkarm. At dawn, Israeli soldiers backed by tanks and helicopter gunships stormed into the Palestinian village of Arrabe in the northern West Bank and arrested Mujahed Abu Jalboush, a would-be suicide bomber from Islamic Jihad, his handler and four other suspects.
