ARABS-ISRAEL - Oct 8 - Israeli Troops Kill Two Palestinians In West Bank.

Israeli troops kill a Palestinian militant and a Palestinian civilian near the West Bank city of Nablus. Palestinian witnesses said the gunman, from Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, was shot in Balata, a refugee camp near Nablus. Two other members of Al Aqsa, an armed wing of Pres Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, were wounded. Israeli soldiers also shot dead a Palestinian civilian who tried to bypass a military checkpoint near Nablus, Palestinian witnesses and a Palestinian medical official said. An Israeli army spokesman said he was unaware of such an incident. Jordan's FM warned meanwhile that Palestinians face a humanitarian tragedy unless peacemaking with Israel resumes quickly. "It is absolutely necessary to consolidate international efforts to provide assistance to the needy Palestinian people", Abdul Allah Al Khatib told visiting UN Mideast envoy Alvaro De Soto in the Jordanian capital. "The difficult economic conditions [in the Palestinian territories] are further deteriorating because of the continued Israeli aggression", Al Khatib said.
