ARABS-ISRAEL - March 26 - Baby Girl Killed.

A Palestinian sniper fires from the hill of Abu Sneina in Hebron on a home in the Jewish settlement of Avraham Avinu and kills 10-month-old girl Shalhevet Pass (apparently the youngest casualty in the 6-month uprising). On March 27, angry settlers invaded a neighbouring Palestinian area and fired on cars and buildings. They demanded that the army reoccupy hills from which Palestinian gunmen fire on the settlement. Settler spokesman David Wilder said: "Israeli must control the hills the way they were before they were handed to Arafat. We expect the government to take the initiative and not show restraint". (Israel in 1997 agreed to withdraw from most of the 120,000-strong Hebron but to retain direct control over 20% of it in order to protect the Jewish enclave below). Sohair Takruri, a Palestinian living on the hillside, said: "Any time we hear shooting we go inside our houses because we expect retaliation".
