ARABS-ISRAEL - July 23 - Militant Groups Vow Revenge For Gaza Attack.

Izz el-Deen Al Qassam brigades say in a statement: "We will shatter Zionist bodies into pieces in every restaurant, every bus station, every bus". Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades' statement says: "Our response to the Israeli crimes will be tough and violent, and our attacks against these criminal occupiers will be resumed soon. We will hit everywhere, even their children, to make them understand how our children suffer". Hamas and Islamic Jihad members swarmed through the street of Gaza City vowing revenge for what they described as a massacre. Men fired AK-47s and pistols in the air during a mass funeral for the victims attended by thousands of people. Senior PA negotiator Saeb Erekat said: "Sharon knows that blood breeds blood, bullets breed bullets and hatred breeds hatred, and Sharon has the president of the United States covering him and describing such acts as self-defence". Even many Israelis questioned the attack, saying it proved that Sharon was not seriously interested in negotiating a peace settlement with the PA and complaining that the strike and its large number of casualties would only fuel the cycle of violence (see Israel).
