ARABS-ISRAEL - July 16 - Jewish Woman & Suicide Bomber Killed.

A Palestinian suicide bomber detonates his charge at a bus stop in the northern Israeli town of Binyamina, killing himself and a young Israeli woman and wounding 6 others. Earlier, two Palestinians were killed while preparing a bomb a km from Jerusalem's main stadium, where Israel's Maccabiah Games, known as the Jewish Olympics, were due to open in the evening. (The blasts cast a pall over the Games' opening session, attended by 2,000 athletes and thousands of spectators, which officials hoped would symbolise Israel determination that its people live normal lives despite the bloodshed. Security at the Games is to be extremely heavy). Sharon, attending the Games' opening ceremony at Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium, condemns the suicide bombing and says: "It was a cruel attack, an attack that testifies to the fact that the Palestinian Authority has not decided to act against terror". Another suicide bombing kills two young Israeli soldiers and leaves several others badly wounded. Islamic Jihad takes responsibility for the attack, which it says was carried out by a Jenin man in his 20s whose cousin was killed by Israeli tank fire several months ago. The group says it has dozens more suicide bombers ready and warns Israel against "any act of stupidity against the Palestinian people". Later in the day, Israeli tanks pushed into PA-held parts of Hebron. An Israeli tank and four jeeps have carried out a similar incursion into Tulkarm, thrusting about 100 metres into the PA-ruled city. The PA police and civilian gunmen returned the fire.
