ARABS-ISRAEL - Aug. 12 - Two Israelis Killed In Suicide Bomb Blasts.

Two Israelis are killed and at least 13 people are injured in two separate suicide bombing attacks on a shopping mall in the Israeli town of Rosh Ha'ayin and near the settlement of Ariel in the West Bank. (The attacks are the first suicide bombings since militant groups declared a 3-months ceasefire on June 29. There have been several shooting attacks against Israeli targets since the ceasefire was declared). Army officials said Rosh Ha'ayin attack was carried out by renegade followers of Arafat's Fatah movement. Hamas claimed responsibility for the Ariel blast, with its military wing saying on its website that Yusef Qafesha, a 21-year-old man from Nablus, carried out the attack in response to Israel's assassination of Hamas members on Aug. 8 in Nablus. PA PM Mahmoud Abbas cut short a tour of the Gulf after the bombings. Israel has delayed implementation of further stages of the US-backed peace "road map" until he takes action to disarm militant groups and dismantle their infrastructure. Israel meanwhile suspended the release of a further 73 Palestinian prisoners, returning them to jail on the buses that were driving them to freedom. Israeli officials say the military will continue to take action against individuals that pose a threat to Israel. Israeli spokesman David Baker said: "The terror attack in Rosh Ha'ayin emphasises the need for the PA to once and for all take immediate steps to dismantle the terror infrastructure".
