ARABS-EUROPEAN - Oct. 13 - EU Attacks Iran's Human Rights Record.The EU attacks Iran's human rights record but does not agree to table or co-sponsor a UN General Assembly resolution that would single out Iran for its human rights violations. In a session devoted to human rights in Iran Today, the state of human rights in Iran continues to be generally considered a source of significant concern. Despite many efforts by Iranian human right activists, writers, NGOs and international critiques as well as several resolutions by the UN General Assembly and the UN Human , EU foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg criticise the country's continuing use of the death penalty, public executions, torture, amputation amputation (ăm'pyətā`shən), removal of all or part of a limb or other body part. Although amputation has been practiced for centuries, the development of sophisticated techniques for treatment and prevention of infection has greatly as an alternative punishment and arbitrary detentions.
