ARAB-AFFAIRS - July 19 - Syria And Jordan Boost Ties.


Officials say Syrian Pres. Bashar Al Assad and Jordan's King Abdullah King Abdullah can refer to:
  • Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, regent of Saudi Arabia since 1995 and king since 2005.
  • Abdullah II, king of Jordan since 1999
  • Abdullah I, Emir of Transjordan (1921–1946) and King of Transjordan (1946–1951)
 agreed during a meeting in Damascus to revive a joint economic commission and boost commercial exchanges. They say Bashar had agreed to provide Jordan with water to help it tackle the consequences of a regional drought. They do not specify any quantity and say this would be agreed by the respective water authorities. (Syria has several dams close to the border with Jordan.
