Candidates should be qualified in architecture to at least Part Two of the RIBA RIBA Royal Institute of British Architects professional qualifications (or one of its overseas equivalents), or they should have very extensive understanding of the practice and profession of architecture internationally. Applicants must of course have wide-ranging and well-honed editorial and writing skills, allied with an ability to seek out and arrange comment on the most important architecture in the world. This needs to be combined with commercial expertise and creativity to be applied extending the range of the magazine with new awards and events, and furthering its existing activities in electronic and other media. Managerial skills in running and inspiring a small highly specialized and dedicated team are vital, and so is an ability to work within stringent budgets. Extensive travel is required.
