AQM Solutions Launches TriTune(R) 4.1 and APC(TM) 4.6 at SHARE 2008.

Enhancements designed to identify and correct more root causes of application performance problems in z/OS environments

TriTune 4.1 is now ready for CA IDMS support

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- AQM Solutions, Inc., a TRILOGexpert company that provides automated application performance tuning and resource optimization to Fortune 1000 companies, announces the availability of Version 4.1 of its TriTune([R]) software featuring enhanced support for z/OS version 1.9, IMS version 10 and Websphere for z/OS, versions 6.0 and 6.1. The company is also releasing an enhanced version of its automated performance and measurement platform, APC(TM) 4.6.

TriTune and APC are integral parts of an automated AQM (Application Quality Management) solution that proactively identifies potential application tuning opportunities before they become performance problems. An automated AQM solution can reduce manual tuning tasks by more than 90%, and as a result can help organizations save money by eliminating unnecessary and expensive CPU upgrades. TriTune 4.1

The new TriTune 4.1 adds more features to what is already considered the most advanced application performance analysis tool for the z/OS environment. With the 4.1 release, users running IBM WebSphere Application Server version 6.0 and 6.1 now have visibility into activity at the WebSphere Application Server transaction level. TriTune provides detailed reports on the system and application class/method activity, SQL activity, and heap and garbage collection activity allowing the user to more easily identify application performance issues originating beyond the mainframe.

Version 4.1 also includes extensive data collection and reporting capabilities for those using IBM DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 9 that help to identify potential bottlenecks caused by common inefficiencies in programming and application design. Likewise, users of IBM IMS Version 10 can identify poorly performing transactions and DL/I calls for both Full Function and Fast Path environments using Full Function, DEDB and HAL/DB databases.

TriTune 4.1 enables users to maximize server region utilization by reporting on the idle time for each monitored CICS transaction server region. It also now provides insight into several other key CICS areas including temporary storage usage/HWM, Central Storage HWM, DB2 thread statistics, CICS dispatcher statistics, Enqueue statistics, and JVM statistics.

Version 4.1 makes it easier to identify problems in a CA IDMS/DB environment as well. TriTune can detect if an application issue is originating from a CA IDMS/DB activity, and automatically attribute the CPU response times to CA IDMS/DB application code. It also tracks activity for both batch and online applications.

APC 4.6

AQM Solutions has also added new functionality to its automated performance measurement and analysis platform, APC. New features in Version 4.6 help further reduce the need for manual performance analysis and increase the scope of application tuning opportunities.

APC has always featured unparalleled data mining tools and version 4.6 offers three new methods of calculating annual CPU time. It can use either the average CPU time of a particular job step, the CPU time of the most recent job step execution, or, the CPU time of the measured job step as a base to help detect tuning potential opportunities.

APC 4.6 now displays the current internal APC Server data in real time. This enables more detailed analysis of actual, average, and predicted performance of both the currently active job streams, and individual job steps.

This updated version of APC also provides enhanced visibility into CICS System Management Facility (SMF) by allowing the user to define summary regions for applications workloads that are distributed across multiple online regions. This data can then be regrouped and stored together for easier analysis. APC 4.6 also has a filter that allows the user to further define which specific regions and/or transactions will be handled by the APC CICS SMF feature. This allows APC to focus on only the important data regions and eliminates less pertinent regions (such as test regions) from analysis. The same function is available for transactions, such as excluding transactions like CSS.
