Given current market conditions, both parties decided to withdraw from the transaction. APW continues to serve Lucent as a strategic supplier on a global basis and looks forward to further expansion of its ongoing relationship with Lucent. The general supply agreement that was executed between APW and Lucent in January 2001 has helped to solidify the strategic partnership that exists between the two companies. Lucent will continue to evaluate the metals, plastics and tooling operation located in Bydgoszcz as Lucent reviews its manufacturing strategy. The operation, covering approximately 215,000 square feet, employs about 300 employees who manufacture electronic enclosure cabinets, power distribution frames and injection molded plastic parts.
