APS energy management subsidiary approved.PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 1996--Arizona's largest electric utility Thursday received approval from state regulators to form a subsidiary to offer a range of new energy management products and services to provide customer solutions for the home and office. The subsidiary's products and services may include energy and load management, appliance control and programming, home automation, customer messaging, home and small commercial business security and automated au·to·mate v. au·to·mat·ed, au·to·mat·ing, au·to·mates v.tr. 1. To convert to automatic operation: automate a factory. 2. lighting control. These offerings integrate both wired and wireless communication technologies to link internal control of the home/small commercial business to the utility. The subsidiary's first entry into the market will be the introduction of a home security product in alliance with Honeywell. The APS/Honeywell Home Protection System will be the first non-energy product offered by APS. In addition, APS would be the first utility in the country to offer Honeywell's newest home security product -- the System 7000. Priced competitively, the APS/Honeywell Home Protection System would have an installed base price of $149, plus $24.95 per month, assuming a 36-month lease/monitoring contract. The APS/Honeywell Home Protection System will first be available to APS employees and employees of affiliate corporations. Following the initial rollout, the product line will be offered to APS customers and non-customers in the metropolitan Phoenix area and then outside the Phoenix area.
