As part of APS' expanding national footprint and growing commitment to locating business units in the communities where members live and work, Dr. Gorton will work both out of APS' Silver Spring corporate headquarters and will oversee a new local site to be established in Central Pennsylvania where he lives with his wife and family. Dr. Gorton joined APS in January of 2006 and brought to the company over a decade of medical leadership experience and most recently served as Chief Medical Officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. He is board certified in pediatrics and received his MD from Columbia University and his MHSA from the College of St. Francis. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in Health Evaluation Science at Penn State University College of Medicine and a Senior Scholar in the Jefferson Medical College Department of Health Policy and a faculty practitioner teaching negotiation in Johns Hopkins University's "Business of Medicine" MBA program. "Kit has had a tremendous impact on APS since his arrival and we are excited to recognize his contribution through these increased responsibilities.
