APPLIX INC. SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH INGRAM MICRO TO DISTRIBUTE ASTER-X WORKGROUP PRODUCTIVITY SOFTWARE

 WESTBORO, Mass., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Applix Inc. announced that it has signed an agreement with Ingram Micro to distribute its workgroup productivity software, Aster-x , to UNIX resellers in the United States. A complete workgroup solution, Aster-x is available for all major hardware platforms supporting UNIX.
 "By adding Novell's UNIXWARE, and key applications like Aster-x to its product roster, Ingram is one of the few distribution leaders to satisfy reseller and market demand for UNIX solutions on the desktop," said D.J. Long. vice president of marketing for Applix, Inc. "With thousands of commercial sites seeking UNIX-based, client/server solutions though the channel, we're very excited to have Ingram as an integral partner to our distribution strategy," Long added.

Aster-x features
 Aster-x is a powerful suite of workgroup applications and tools that offers users the ability to create, edit, and exchange informations in text, graphical or multi-media formats across networks of UNIX and X- based workstations. Aster-x offers advanced word processing, integrated graphics, as well as optional spreadsheets, mail, and filter packs for easy import and export of files. Its flexibility is greatly enhanced by its extension language facility (ELF), which users can employ to easily customize Aster-x and integrate or live link it with a wide variety of third-party products.
