APPLIED RESEARCH SUBSIDIARY SIGNS SECOND EXCLUSIVE WORLD-WIDE MARKETING AGREEMENT WITH JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY/APPLIED PHYSICS LABORATORY

LANDOVER, Md., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Research Corporation (PHLX: ARL.X) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, ARSoftware Corporation, has signed an exclusive world-wide publishing and marketing agreement with The Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory to market ORBIT PREDICTOR, an IBM PC-compatible software program. The program will be available with source code.
ORBIT PREDICTOR accurately calculates and plots orbits and orbital decay (from atmospheric drag sources) for satellites with an altitude of 1,000 km or less for periods of up to one year. The program uses empirical modeling structures developed at the Applied Physics Laboratory over the past seven years.
ARSoftware will prepare the program for commercial use with extensive beta testing and document preparation.
ORBIT PREDICTOR represents the second exclusive licensing agreement between the two parties in less than a year. The first, an agreement to market OPTIMATR (a program that calculates the optical properties of materials) has just entered the marketplace, and initial response has been excellent.
"ORBIT PREDICTOR strengthens our Aerospace Sciences and Space Technology family of products by adding a new dimension of unique computing tools for orbital planners, analysts and researchers," states S.P.S. Anand, president and CEO of ARSoftware.
