 ROBERT FOOTE NAMED VP BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
 MILWAUKEE, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- David L. Harbert has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Applied Power Inc., part of a general corporate reorganization and restructuring in which Robert T. Foote Jr. moves from his position as vice president and chief financial officer to the newly created position of vice president, business development.
 Richard G. Sim, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "We're delighted with the addition of David Harbert to our management team. He brings over 25 years of accounting and financial management experience and will strengthen our organization considerably.
 "We're also pleased that we will have Bob Foote bringing more than 20 years of Applied Power experience as well as his background in both operations and finance to his new business development role, an area that is vital to our future success." In his new position, Foote will continue to report to Sim.
 Harbert will assume his new position with Applied Power Sept. 1. Prior to joining Applied Power, he was vice president and chief financial officer for System Software Associates, Chicago, a $125 million public company which develops and markets business application software globally. Prior to that, he served as vice president, finance and chief financial officer with Tenneco Automotive, a $1.7 billion automotive parts business with worldwide manufacturing operations. Tenneco Automotive is a Tenneco Corporation company headquartered in Lincolnshire, Ill.
 Before that, he was vice president and controller of Gencorp, Akron, Ohio, a $1.6 billion holding company with businesses in aerospace, automotive and consumer products industries. He previously held a series of management positions with Diversitech General, a Gencorp company.
 Harbert holds both bachelors and masters degrees in accounting from the University of Akron (Ohio) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
 Applied Power is a world leader in industrial motion and position control applications and a pioneer in the marriage of hydraulic and vibration technologies with electronics. The company is comprised of two business groups. The Engineered Solutions Group includes the Barr Controls and Power-Packer/APITECH businesses that market customized products and systems primarily to original equipment manufacturers.
 The Distributed Products Group includes the Enerpac and GB Electrical businesses that consist of standard products which are marketed to end users primarily through independent distributors. Non- U.S. activities account for 45 percent of overall revenues.
