APPLICATIONS FOR CFC-FREE AIR CONDITIONING GROW AS ICC TECHNOLOGIES
GETS FOUR NEW ORDERS; H.J. HEINZ AND ACME CLICK LEAD THE WAY
PHILADELPHIA, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- A growing number of companies and industries are turning to alternative air conditioning systems to reduce dependence on ozone-depleting refrigerants, like CFCs, improve indoor air quality and increase energy efficiency. ICC Technologies (NASDAQ: ICGN), manufacturer of the CFC-free DESI/AIR system, today announced four new orders for its commercial air conditioning units. The orders, which total more than $250,000, were placed for two supermarket chains, a biomedical research facility and a food processing facility.
ICC's gas-powered DESI/AIR system dehumidifies and cools indoor air without the use of ozone-depleting refrigerants, such as CFCs.
H.J. Heinz has purchased an ICC system for its Pestritto Foods food processing plant in Blackwood, N.J. This plant manufactures frozen rolls for a wide variety of outlets. The DESI/AIR unit will cool and dry the air in the plant, improving comfort and making refrigeration operate more efficiently.
A DESI/AIR 8000 unit was purchased by Ohio-based Acme Click to be installed over the refrigerated section of its giant 100,000-square-foot store in Akron, Ohio. The unit, to be installed during the store's remodeling, will eliminate problems associated with humidity, such as condensation forming on milk and orange juice, frost build-up on ice cream and other frozen foods, and inefficient operation of refrigeration equipment. Acme has 22 stores in its chain.
ICC Technologies will be shipping another DESI/AIR 8000 unit to Fiesta Mart, a regional supermarket chain based in Houston. The latest Fiesta Mart purchase, to be placed at the chain's new store in Austin, Texas, marks the second purchase by the company and is the third supermarket chain to purchase the ICC unit and to order additional units for other stores.
ICC's DESI/AIR 4000 will be used at United Biomedical, a medical research manufacturer based in Hauppauge, N.Y., to improve comfort and indoor air quality. United Biomedical makes enzymes for AIDS testing.
More than 40 ICC units are in supermarkets, retail stores, food processing plants, laboratories and military installations.
ICC Technologies, headquartered in Philadelphia, develops innovative, efficient space conditioning technologies to address the needs of today's commercial marketplace. The DESI/AIR system is being marketed to industries with a pressing need for effective climate control and energy management, including supermarkets, hotels, large retail outlets, office buildings, hospitals and nursing homes.
