APPLEBEE'S APPOINTS NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 KANSAS CITY, MO., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Applebee's International,

Inc., (NASDAQ: APPB) today announced the appointment of George D. Shadid as chief financial officer, effective in mid-August 1992.
Shadid has served for the past four years in a similar capacity with Gilbert/Robinson, Inc., a Kansas City-based restaurant company. His seven years with Gilbert/Robinson and his prior nine years of public accounting background with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) allows Shadid to bring a wealth of experience to his new chief financial officer position.
Abe J. Gustin, Jr., Applebee's president and chief executive officer praised Shadid's decision to join the Applebee's team. Gustin said, "After an extensive national search for the right candidate, George is an excellent addition as our chief financial officer. Gilbert/Robinson has always had a fine name and reputation in our industry and is known for the quality of its personnel. With his background, training and experience, George brings the last ingredient of this company's recipe for a well-rounded management team that will propel Applebee's into the future. We welcome and look forward to his contribution."
