Slow Food plans

cheese tasting

Slow Food Eugene will celebrate artisanal cheeses at a public event to be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 at the L&L Market Place, 1591 Willamette St.

Tickets are $12 (cash and checks only) at Newman's Fish Co., 1545 Willamette St. Admission includes a cheese tasting and one glass of wine.

The event will include a panel discussion with cheesemakers from Cowgirl Creamery Cowgirl Creamery is a company located in Point Reyes Station, California which manufactures artisanal cheeses. Founded in 1994, the company both manufactures its own cheeses (including Red Hawk and Mt. , Juniper Grove Farm Grove Farm (grid reference ST513096) is a 36.5 hectare (90.2 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset, notified in 1989.

This site comprises an extensive area of unimproved mesotrophic grassland, a habitat which is now uncommon in Britain.
 and Alsea Acres and with cheesemongers from Pastaworks and Newman's Fish Co.

The wines are from Broadley Vineyards, Benton Lane Winery and Domaine Meriwether.

Cheese will be available to buy and Karen West from the Bookmark A stored location for quick retrieval at a later date. Web browsers provide bookmarks that contain the addresses (URLs) of favorite sites. Most electronic references, large text databases and help systems provide bookmarks that mark a location users want to revisit in the future.  will sell books about cheese and the Slow Food organization.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the School Gardens Project.

 and then was chosen best of show at the recent Newport Seafood and Wine Festival.

LaVelle Vineyards winery is located in Elmira and it has a tasting room at the Fifth Street Public Market in Eugene.

Chateau Lorane Baco Noir 2000 and Eugene Wine Cellars Viognier 2000 were other Lane County wines winning gold at Newport.

In another competition, LaVelle Vineyards' Willamette Valley Riesling 2001 was among the fine wines awarded gold medals at the 10th annual McMinnville Wine & Food Classic Wine Competition this month.

Marche, the French-inspired restaurant at the Fifth Street Public Market, will feature the food and wine of the Savoie region of France during a six-course dinner tonight by guest chef Robert Reynolds of Portland.

The cost is $32 per person, not including wine or gratuity Money, also known as a tip, given to one who provides services and added to the cost of the service provided, generally as a reward for the service provided and as a supplement to the service provider's income. . The meal will begin with a pear, ham and blue cheese tart followed by a radish radish, herbaceous plant (Raphanus sativus) belonging to the family Cruciferae (mustard family), with an edible, pungent root sliced in salads or used as a relish.  green soup with mustard cream and a composed salad.

The main course is a choice of rabbit braised braise
